It is cheery news for pharmacists and allied health workers in public hospitals in Lagos that the state government has created Consultant Pharmacist cadre and Directorate for allied health professionals in schemes of service in the state.
By the new policy, pharmacists in the employ of Lagos State health ministry would henceforth look forward to the attainment of the highest possible height in their career progression. It is dream come true after many years of advocacy – for a review of the scheme of public/civil servants by the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN).

HLA, others urge providers to prioritise patient-centred care to improve indices
Experts have charged healthcare providers in the public and private health facilities on improved Patient-Centred Care (PCC) to increase Nigeria’s health indices. They gave the submission at the Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) Patient-Centered Care (PCC) training programme, designed for front-line clinicians across all cadres and disciplines (including, but not limited to, doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, optometrists, physiotherapists and pharmacists), which according to the Executive Director, Dr. Hala Daggash is aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and tools required to provide improved patient-centered care and offer optimal healthcare services.
